Jasmine Osean Thomas is a Director, 1st Assistant Director, Screenplay Writer, Film Enthusiast, and Horror Fanatic.
Jasmine moved to Los Angeles at 20 to pursue her passion for filmmaking. After graduating from the Los Angeles Film School, she immediately began working with high-profile production companies like Ryan Murphy, Quentin Tarantino, and Blumhouse Productions, which allowed her to gain invaluable experience in the industry. She later transitioned into working as a 1st Assistant Director on feature films, music videos, commercials, campaigns, and short films. In 2021, she signed with Dreambear for her directing work, and in 2022, relocated to New York City.
Jasmine's love for storytelling began with an obsession with horror films. Though diagnosed with dyslexia, she found writing challenging, yet the freedom of horror filmmaking—telling stories without constraints—gave her the confidence to pursue her creative passion.
Her filmmaking style blends art-house and grindhouse influences, gothic imagery, and elements of camp. As a child, she was drawn to surreal and theatrical films like The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. Introduced to Jim Henson’s world, Jasmine spent her childhood “fishing” for mature films her parents deemed too young for her out side of her local Block Buster—Evil Dead, Carrie, Pet Sematary, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, House of 1000 Corpses, and the Child’s Play series. In addition to horror, Jasmine draws inspiration from dramatizing personal experiences, Lana Del Rey instrumentals, the ocean, and conversations with strangers.
Jasmine has recently completed her narrative directorial debut, KANDIE, a short psychological thriller that explores the relentless—and perhaps ultimately futile—pursuit of validation. She is currently submitting the film to festivals on a global scale.
